My name is Eva Cecilia Guillén, and I am applying to the IT for Women program because I am ready to take a decisive step into the future of technology—and claim my place in it.
I come from a background in SAS programming within the pharmaceutical industry, where I developed a strong foundation in structure, logic, and precision. Working in that environment taught me the importance of accuracy and responsibility, especially when dealing with data that truly matters. However, over time I realized that I want more than maintaining systems—I want to build, create, and shape new ones.
That realization is what brings me here.
I would describe myself as structured and detail-oriented, but also deeply creative. I am someone who likes things to be done properly, but I am equally driven by aesthetics and expression. I have a natural ability to create designs that are not only visually appealing, but that also communicate clearly and effectively. For me, design is not just about how something looks—it’s about how it feels and how it connects with people.
Outside of work, music and art are a big part of my life. They are not just hobbies—they are ways for me to think, explore, and express ideas. What excites me most about web development is that it allows me to combine these creative interests with technical skills. It gives me a way to turn ideas into something real, something interactive, something that others can experience.
I am especially motivated by the idea of building something of my own in the future. I want to understand not only how to code, but how to create digital products that can grow, scale, and succeed. At the same time, I see myself working as an IT consultant, contributing to innovative companies where technology and design go hand in hand. A little bit about me:
One important aspect of who I am—and something that will naturally influence my studies—is my strong connection to sustainability, nature, and climate-related issues.
This is not just an interest I have on the side. It has shaped real choices in my life. I have previously worked with selling vegan and ecological makeup, where I became deeply aware of how people make decisions, what builds trust, and how important transparency is—especially in digital environments. I saw firsthand how values, design, and communication can influence behavior.
At the same time, this experience sparked something bigger in me.
I don’t just want to be part of existing systems—I want to create something of my own. My long-term goal is to build a webshop focused on sustainable and ethical products. Not just a store, but a platform that feels thoughtful, trustworthy, and inspiring to use. Something that reflects both quality and purpose.
This is one of the reasons why learning web development feels so important to me. It gives me the tools to turn ideas into reality, instead of depending on others to build them for me.
